Introduction

Moss Vale Golf Course is a golfers paradise in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The Moss Vale Golf Course is regarded as one of the prettiest and challenging courses in NSW, with avenues of pines, elms, gums and vividly coloured claret ash flanking the winding layout. The course was completed in its current layout in 1936.

Our 18 Hole Championship Golf Course is a par 71, and 5995 metres from the mens tees. A number of twists and turns, in addition to small elevated greens, make the course a true test. The creek which runs through the course has to be crossed 12 times during the round! From the clubhouse, the Moss Vale layout appears hilly, but after the opening 5 holes, it levels out.

Moss Vale Golf Club was founded in 1902 and designed in its current location and layout by Carnegie Clark. The current course record is 66.

If you are after a golfing getaway to the southern highlands our Guest House has a wide range of attractive play and stay accommodation packages on offer. Call the Guest House direct on 0248 681 811 or visit on www.dormiehouse.com.au

 Course tour by hole

1st Hole– A fantastic start to the golf course. This 336m Par 4 has the first of 12 creek crossings on the course. A long straight shot is the safest of options, leaving an uphill approach to the green.

2nd Hole  - Cutting across the course, this 145m, par 3 is tricky at best. A wayward iron shot from the tee will see a tough chip on to the green, with the experienced players playing to the left and allowing the ball to kick back towards the pin.

3rd Hole. - A sweeping uphill par 4 of only 291m, the 3rd hole gives accurate drivers a chance “cut the corner” and leave only a short chip to the green.  A wayward tee shot though, may leave you high in the scrub, or back below the pin with a tricky uphill approach.

4th Hole– A magnificent view welcomes you to the tee, with a panoramic view of the first half of the course including the Clubhouse, Pro Shop and Dormie House. The high tee, allows big booming drives to sail high into the distance, leaving you with the decision to take on the creek and go for the green, or lay up, leaving a short pitch in.

5th Hole– Over the duck pond, this tough par 4 rises back up the hill. Sand on the left hand side of the green proves tough for even the best golfers.

6th Hole– a 160m, par 3 across the duck pond. The downhill position of the green allows you to clear the pond and get a nice kick towards the green. The green is surrounded by a prison of tall trees with players being rewarded when taking on the water………….. and clearing it.

7th Hole– Back at Dormie House, the 7th tee is that start of the back half of the course. A 466m, par 5, the 7th rewards players that play straight and avoid the big pine tree on the right of the tee.

8th Hole– A par 4, which is a dog leg to the right. This downhill 373m hole is best approached with a tee shot down the left-hand side of the fairway, opening up the green up for a nice approach.

9th Hole– The fairway bends to the left on this short, 313m, par 4. A bunker awaits any loose approach shots, short and left of the green

10th Hole– A great start to the back 9, with this downhill, 309m par 4. Any approach shots to the green which are too long, will prove difficult to find in the creek at the back of the green.

11th Hole– The shortest hole on the course, this 127m par 3 has the creek between tee and green and out of bounds to the right.

12th Hole– Over the creek with your tee shot this uphill par 4 is best played from the right side of the fairway with a huge gum tree and a bunker on the left side of the green

13th Hole– Out the back with the cows, this tee backs on to open farmland and paddocks. A downhill hole only 312m long, is a chance to score well. Watch out for the 2 fairway bunkers though………..

14th Hole– An avenue of pines surrounds this tee at the 365m, par 4 14th hole. Your drive should be towards the left of the fairway, leaving more green to work with for the uphill approach shot.

15th Hole– The toughest hole on the course, this 401m par 4 is long and challenging. With scrub on the right of the fairway, it is best to stay left, leaving an uphill approach into the green. Many players play this hole like a par 5.

16th Hole– A long 203m Par 3 with sand to the left and water to the back right. Watch out for the ducks!

17th Hole– The longest hole on the course. This 501m par 5 starts with a tee backing on to paddocks and farmland. It takes 2 long hits up the big open fairway to have a look at the green, which has a bunker to the left, but a lovely funnel on the right kicking balls towards the pin.

18th Hole– A tee shot through the avenue of pines and gums, leaves a lovely looking finish to the hole. The green is set in front of Dormie house, with views of the clubhouse and first tee. The final crossing of the creek is a down hill approach and a magnificent finish to the course.
