A Brief History of Moss Vale Golf Club & Dormie House

1902 Meeting held at the Royal Hotel in Moss Vale on Wednesday 1st July 1902 in order to discuss forming a Golf Club in Moss Vale.
1903 First Annual Meeting was held on Wednesday 14th January 1903.
1904 On 27th February 1904 it was decided, “that a new links be formed at a convenient place inside the township…a portion of the Throsby estate not far from the Royal Hotel in Moss Vale.
1905 The first Club House was opened in 10th June and approval of Liquor License granted
1907 Moss Vale Golf Links Ltd is floated as a company with an initial £2400 (240 shares of £10 pounds each)
1912 Second Club House opens and known as Shipley’s Cottage
1926 Golf in Australia Cup first played at Moss Vale Golf Club
1933 The Dormie House is constructed on Moss Vale Golf Course
1934 The Dormie House opens for guests
1941 Moss Vale Golf Club Ltd sells Dormie House due to tough economic times.
1974 The Clubs buys back Dormie House for the sum of $20,000.
1981 Construction commences on existing Clubhouse
1983 Present Club House opens, funded largely due to the success of Dormie House
1993 New pro-shop opens in current location
2002  Moss Vale Club celebrates 100 year Anniversary
2004 Dormie House celebrates 70th Birthday
